Sport Canada Community Sport For All Initiative

November 1, 2022

Recreational sport boosts self-esteem and teaches the value of teamwork – creating memories that stick with you throughout your life.

For some, though, participation in recreational sport has not been easy, or even an option in their community. Maybe they are someone who has a disability that requires accommodation. Or might not feel like they belong. Or, they simply can’t afford it.

That changes now.

Recreation NL is excited to share a new funding opportunity from the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) — Reaching Each and Every One: A Community Sport Intervention. Funded by the Government of Canada, this program will allow CPRA to support community-led projects that aim to remove barriers and increase participation rates in recreational sport for equity-deserving groups – in particular Black, Indigenous, racially diverse, 2SLGBTQQIA+, low-income and newcomer populations, as well as people living with disabilities.

As a national organization, CPRA is dedicated to realizing the full potential of parks and recreation as a major contributor to community health and vibrancy. Reaching Each and Every One: A Community Sport Intervention aligns with CPRA’s vision to provide meaningful, accessible recreation experiences.

To find out if you qualify for this opportunity, visit: https://cpra.ca/reeo.

The deadline for applications is December 1, for Atlantic Canada.
